Growing up, my family struggled with healthy communication and addictions. It was my experience that any expression of intimacy or sexuality was immediately shut down, and any information about sex that I did receive was negative. When I went to college, I joined the LGBTQ+ group and discovered that a lot of the information I was given came from a place of strict religious doctrine. This group provided a nonjudgmental space to explore what sexuality meant to me. Through the years I’ve continued to enter spaces that encourage my search for new knowledge and experience that do not adhere to the strict heterosexual binary. By recognizing that my family did not mean harm through their censorship and understanding how they came to their own beliefs, I was able to heal from my encounters of oppression throughout my childhood and early adulthood. I now feel comfortable being open about who I am with my family, and although they do not always agree with me, they have come to respect who I am.
These experiences sparked my curiosity as to how I could help others through similar situations. I decided to pursue the path of becoming a therapist to do just that and am honored to walk alongside my clients through their therapeutic journeys.
My goal is to provide a sex positive space that welcomes healthy exploration of sexuality, with an emphasis on providing accurate information. I consider sex to be a healthy part of life that can be enjoyed in many ways and holds different meanings for different people. Together we will explore how to create the sexual life you desire.
We cannot address sexuality without talking about your emotions and relationships! I believe that emotions from past experiences remain in the body and impact our current and future relationships. I will help you find ways to transform negative patterns of interaction and discover the emotions that lie beneath as we work together to create stronger, deeper, and more satisfying relationships in your life.
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two young daughters. We love to cook and do crafts together and enjoy as much of the outdoors as we can.
